Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium white onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1½ teaspoons kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 (1.25-ounce) package chili seasoning
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon brown rice flour
- 1 (25-ounce) jar plain pasta sauce
- 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed
- 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed
How to Make It
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and pepper and cook for 3–5 minutes until soft. Add the ground turkey and cook, stirring and breaking it up, until browned. Stir in the salt, spices, and seasoning, then stir in the tomato paste, broth, and flour. Let it cool, then combine the mixture with the remaining ingredients in a large bowl. Label a 1-gallon freezer bag, place it in another large bowl, and pour in the chili mixture. Squeeze the remaining air out of the bag and seal it. Lay the bag flat to freeze. Serving Day
- Allow the chili to thaw overnight in the refrigerator. On serving day, pour the mixture into the slow cooker, cover it, and cook on low for about 8 hours.
