The pepper is tamed by the cream sauce. Seriously delicious and very easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp crushed black peppercorns
- Salt to taste
- ½ tsp garlic salt
- 4 New York strip steaks
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp cognac
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp flour
How to Make It
- Combine the crushed peppercorns, salt and garlic salt in a bowl.
- Thoroughly coat both sides of the steak with the spice mixture.
- Heat the butter in a skillet and add the steaks.
- Depending on desired doneness, cook about 3 minutes each side.
- Transfer the steak to a platter and keep warm.
- Deglaze the skillet with the cognac.
- Pour in the beef broth and heavy cream and stir.
- Add the flour to thicken the sauce.
- Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
- Spoon the sauce over the steaks.
