Sausage penne family supper recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound mild Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 1 cup thinly sliced red bell pepper
  • 1 cup thinly sliced mushrooms
  • 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 3⁄4 cup shredded Cheddar
  • 1⁄4 cup grated Parmesan
How to Make It
  1. Crumble the sausage into a large skillet. Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté until the sausage is cooked through and the vegetables are wilted.
  2. Stir in the pasta and broth, bring to a boil, and stir. Reduce the heat and simmer until the pasta is tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in the milk, garlic, and Italian seasoning and heat thoroughly; do not boil. Remove from the heat and add the Cheddar; stir until the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with Parmesan and serve.
