This eggy dish can serve as breakfast or lunch. Or, you can make mini-quiches as appetizers. Either way, they’ll go fast.
Ingredients
- 1 thawed frozen pie crust
- 8 bacon slices
- ¾ cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1 small diced onion
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 4 beaten eggs
- 1½ cups half and half
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
How to Make It
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Bake the pie crust for 5 minutes to prevent it from becoming soggy.
- While the pie crust is baking, fry the bacon in a skillet for 10 minutes.
- Drain the bacon on a paper towel and crumble.
- Place the cheese, onion mushrooms and bacon in the pie shell.
- Wisk the eggs and half and half and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
- Pour the mixture over the cheese.
- Bake the quiche for 35 minutes, or until the center is reasonably solid.
