Princess wand sugar cookie sticks recipe

  • Yield: 12 princess wand cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 batch Sugar Cookie dough
  • Cookie cutters; use ones shaped like crowns, shoes, stars, or anything else your child loves
  • 1 batch Cookie Glaze Icing
  • 12 (8-inch) cookie sticks, found in your local craft store
  • 2–3 drops AmeriColor or Wilton coloring gel in any color or colors you desire
  • 2–3 drops AmeriColor or Wilton coloring gel in any color or colors you desire
  • 12 (10-inch) ribbons, optional
How to Make It
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. To make your cookies, roll out the cookie dough to about 1⁄2 -inch thickness so the finished cookies won’t break when the lollipop sticks have been placed in them. Use your cookie cutters to cut whatever shapes you’d like out of the dough. Next, insert the cookie sticks into the bottom of the cookies before baking for 10 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden. Note: You may only be able to bake a few cookies at a time depending on how large you make your cookies.
  3. Separate icing into multiple bowls (one bowl per desired frosting color) if you will be using a couple different colors and then mix with coloring gels.
  4. Place your colored glaze icing in cake-decorating bags with a tip.
  5. To decorate your cookies, choose an icing color and use it to outline two cookies at a time.
  6. Go back and fill in the first cookie with the same color icing and then repeat with the second cookie. I like to only do two cookies at a time so the gel dries nicely and doesn’t leave a ridge.
  7. Allow the icing to dry at least 4–5 hours before you ice on your details.
  8. Once the icing has dried, use different colored icings to create different designs and shapes on your cookies. Add sprinkles, candy, and other edible embellishments as desired and have fun! I also tied a pretty ribbon around the stick. Store any extra glaze in an airtight container.
