Turkey burgers themselves are naturally leaner, but can still pack a punch of flavor. This is a classic southern American dish that is seasoned with the perfect amount of spice.
Ingredients
For the Burgers
- 16 ounces of lean ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- ½ teaspoons of powdered cumin
- ½ teaspoons of powdered cumin
- ¼ teaspoons of dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoons of black pepper
- 4 ounces of Queso Fresco
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce, for topping
- Tomatoes, thinly sliced and for topping
For the Sauce
- 2 jalapenos, chopped
- 1 cup of cilantro, chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
- 2 Tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1/3 cup of plain Greek yogurt
- Dash of salt and black pepper
How to Make It
- Prepare the burgers. In a bowl, add in the lean ground turkey, soy sauce, lime juice, crushed garlic, powdered cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano and dash of black pepper. Stir well to mix. Divide into 4 balls and flatten into patties.
- Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat.
- Place the burger patties directly onto the grill. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness. Transfer onto the hamburger buns.
- Prepare the sauce. In a blender, add in the chopped jalapeno, chopped cilantro, chopped garlic, vinegar, lime juice, olive oil and Greek yogurt. Season with a dash of salt and black pepper. Blend on the highest setting until smooth in consistency.
- Top off the burgers with the lettuce and tomato slices. Drizzle the aji sauce over the top. Serve immediately.
