Ingredients
- 3 cups self raising flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- Milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Crosses
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup plain flour
- 1 cup sultanas
- ½ cup water
How to Make It
- Place flour, mixed spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar and sultanas into a bowl and stir to combine.
- Stir egg and enough milk into dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- Using your hands, form the dough into small round even sized buns.
- Place buns on a lightly floured trivet in a camp oven.
- Combine the flour and water to make a soft paste and place into a zip lock bag. Snip off the corner and draw crosses on top of the buns.
- Place the lid on the camp oven and bake until golden brown.
