Doughnut pops recipe

0

These petite, decorated treats are a great way to serve doughnuts at parties and other festive occasions. For those of you familiar with cake pops, the preparation detailed here is similar. Of course, another method is to simply insert a lollipop stick into a just-fried doughnut hole and go from there. Voilà! Instant doughnut pop.

  • Yield: 10 pops

Ingredients

  • 6 Basic Cake Doughnuts, or other cake doughnut of your choosing
  • About 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Basic Glaze, or other glaze of your choosing
  • Favorite sprinkles, cookie crumbs, or crushed candies (such as peppermints, Oreos, or Heath bars)
How to Make It
  1. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Put the doughnuts in a large bowl and, using your hands or a fork, break them into small and medium-size crumbs. Add the milk in small amounts, using just enough so that you can press the crumbs together to form cohesive balls.
  3. Using your hands or a ¾-ounce (1¼ inches in diameter) ice cream scoop, form the doughnut crumbs into tight balls that are about 1½ inches in diameter. Put each ball on the prepared baking sheet and gently push a lollipop stick into each one.
  4. Put the glaze in a bowl and, one at a time, dip each pop into the glaze, covering it completely. Roll the pop in the sprinkles or candy of your choosing and return it to the baking sheet to dry. Repeat with the remaining pops. Serve immediately, or store at room temperature for up to 12 hours.
