Banana fritters recipe

Sweet bananas that have been lightly battered, fried until golden, and drizzled with honey. An irresistable snack or a sweet ending to a Chinese meal.

Ingredients

  • 7 large firm bananas
  • 15 small finger bananas, peeled Oil for deep-frying Honey (optional)
Batter
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ¾ tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon superfine (caster) sugar
  • ½ cup (125 ml) water
How to Make It
  1. To make the Batter, combine the flour, milk, butter, and sugar. Gradually add the water, mixing thoroughly until a smooth batter is formed.
  2. Halve the large bananas if necessary, then dip all the bananas in the Batter, coating well.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep saucepan or a small pot until very hot. Test the oil with a wooden chopstick or a dry wooden spoon; if the oil sizzles, it is ready to be used. Deep-fry the bananas, a few at a time, for 3 minutes until browned on all sides. Drain on paper towels and if desired, serve drizzled with honey.
